The Retreat at 33a is a luxury detached home accessed via a private driveway tucked away in nearby Alverstoke village, a short two minute walk from Stokes Bay Beach, popular with sunbathers and sailors alike and enjoying stunning views of the Isle of Wight and Solent.

The house was designed to the owners' specification to ensure maximum privacy and exploit natural daylight in all the rooms, with solid oak flooring throughout and under floor heating in the living, kitchen and dining areas.

For guests with limited mobility the mainly ground floor accommodation ensures ease of access, with internal wheelchair ramps provided on request.

The garden was designed by Rob Turner in the former walled garden of the adjoining rectory. The original Georgian wall remains and ensures a peaceful private seclusion with a decking area for sunny breakfasts or outdoor entertaining.

Alverstoke is a gem of a village bursting with original charm featuring a local pub, off licence, post office, hairdressers, tea room, gift and antique shops and two restaurants. Gunwharf Quays offers guests a choice of bars, restaurants and clubs overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.

Property Details

Kitchen:
Fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine and food processor. Large selection of crockery and glasses. Features hand painted kitchen tiles, breakfast bar and stools.

Living Area :
Handmade soft furnishings, large 3 seater sofa, five armchairs, large footstool, widescreen TV, cable, DVD player, surround sound music system with a large selection of CD’s and DVD’s. Double doors to garden.

Dining Area:
Large extendable oak dining room table with 10 chairs, situated overlooking the garden.

The Gallery Bedroom 1/Bathroom 1:
Double bedroom with choice of either one king or two 3' single beds. Flat screen TV with freeview & dvd player. Desk/dressing table. Small double sofa bed. Ensuite shower room with electric shower.

The Red Bedroom 2/Bathroom 2:
Double bedroom with double bed. Flat screen TV with freeview & dvd player. Ensuite bathroom with roll top bath and hand held shower.

The Yellow Bedroom 3 :
Double bedroom with king double bed. TV, freeview & dvd player. French doors leading out to garden.

Bathroom 3:
Separate shower room. Designer bathroom tiles.

The Top Bedroom 4:
Gallery stairs leading to double bedroom on the first floor, two single 3' single beds. Great views of St Marys Church. One single occasional bed suitable for children (limited head room).

Guests with limited mobility:
Three of the bedrooms and the bathrooms on the ground floor, thereby providing ease of access to our guests who may have limited mobility. The Gallery bedroom and living/dining area have two steps down into these rooms.

Families:
One travel cot and high chair available on request. Guests are welcome to bring additional cots and highchairs.

Exterior:
Private garden with original Georgian wall. Raised decking area with garden seating and table. Working fountain. BBQ.

Parking:
Private narrow driveway leading to property offering parking for 2-3 cars. Additional car parking spaces on road.

Additional Information:

• Maid service included for rentals of more than 7 nights
• Near to Gunwharf Quays by ferry (5 mins) or car (20 mins outside rush hour)

Self catering accommodation for guests with limited mobility

We can provide a wheelchair, if booked prior to your arrival, to save you bringing one in the car. If you would like to hire a mobility scooter whilst on holiday, we can put you in touch with local companies that provide these at low rates. The accommodation is mainly on one floor with one bedroom and the living room with two steps. Wheelchair ramps available.
